Forming Relationships

Learning how to form relationships and be part of a community is a critical skill for children, and one they will use - and refine - throughout their lives.  We believe that children are not getting ready to be part of a community, but that they already are members. In addition, we believe the many communities that our children are part of transcend age barriers and the physical walls of our building. We want the children in our care to realize how much there is to learn from others, as well as to see how much they already have to give.

When we open our doors… whether to welcome guests into our classrooms or to step into the greater community, we find opportunities for our children to make connections with others. We find ways to be kind, listen carefully, converse politely and simply enjoy each other’s company. Below are just a few examples of those moments:

When our children form relationships with others we find that they become secure their sense of self-worth and belonging. We find that they are more confident in exploring new situations and meeting new people, and better prepared for the world outside our doors.
